Top Travel Tips to Avoid Honeymoon Disasters
When planning your wedding, it is easy to get caught up in the finer details of your big day and forget about preparing for your post-wedding escape. Here is our guide to make sure your Honeymoon is disaster-free and as perfect as you imagined it.
1. Book your flights & accommodation well in advance
While planning your wedding may feel like a full time job in itself, don't put it off. Booking well in advance will help you snap up great prices on your flights and ensure you don't end up missing out on a room in that beautiful resort you have your eye on. Look for great deals on tripadvisor.com.au & kayak.com.au, and if you are looking to experience life as a local, check out airbnb.com.au
2. Pack like a professional
The last thing you want is a missing suitcase on your big day. Imagine landing in your dream Honeymoon destination only to find out your suitcase made it onto the wrong flight and you won't have a change of clothes for the next week. A simple trick is to split the contents of your suitcase - so that you have some of your partners items, and your partner has some of yours. This way, if one bag gets lost, you still have some of your clothes to get you by.
3. A multi socket power board will be your best friend
If you are like me and can't live without your gadget while overseas, having only one power adopter can be very frustrating - particularly when hubby doesn't understand why straightening your hair is more important than charging his laptop. Packing a 4 socket power board alongside your adaptor will ensure you can always use multiple devices at once and avoid the frustration.
4. Back up your happy snaps
Your Honeymoon is a trip you will want to remember for the rest of the life and in 20 years you will love looking back through the photos and reminiscing of the wonderful time you had. In case you lose or break your camera or mobile phone, make sure to back up your photos each night. You can use a portable hard drive or if you have internet access, a cloud storage service like Dropbox or Google Drive. That way, if the worst does happen, you won't have lost more than a days worth of your memories.
5. Keep a digital copy of all your travel documents
Just in case your documents go missing, make sure you have a digital copy of your ATM cards, itineraries, passports, travel insurance and ID. A digital copy in your emails or online cloud storage will help to ensure that your copies can't fall into the wrong hands, and will make replacing the originals much easier if they happen to go missing.
6. Say YES to new experiences and have the time of your life!
You will only be newlyweds for a short time so have the time of your life, dream big and enjoy the adventure.
